Card from Rosy to her parents, from Bergen Belsen - 1944
Rosy was forced to write cards to her parents in Zurich while imprisoned in Bergen-Belsen. Each message was strictly controlled, requiring her to state that she was 'healthy and well’. She was also compelled to ask her family to send food parcels to the camp.
These cards formed part of a deliberate Nazi deception designed to reassure families and encourage them to send supplies. In reality, Rosy’s words were coerced, and the parcels her family sent never reached her - they were intercepted by the authorities, as part of a censored system intended to mislead and deceive families.
