Telegrams
Telegrams exchanged between Annie Rodenburgh, the family’s contact in the Dutch Resistance, and Sigmund, dated July and August 1945.
Since entrusting their son to the care of the Dutch Resistance in December 1942, Sigmund and Rosy had not seen Jehudi for more than two and a half years. By this point, they knew he was alive but were anxious to learn how he was and to receive news of his wellbeing.
Annie Rodenburgh’s reply is brief and matter of fact: ‘Child quite well’.
In just three words, she conveyed the reassurance for which Sigmund and Rosy had been waiting for years.
